TEAM SAFETY AND WELLBEING

Our Support Office is located on St Kilda Rd, Melbourne, Victoria. It is our global headquarters and houses our seven Brands and shared service functions.
Our Brands are comprised of various work streams, such as Buying / Product Development, Planning & Inventory, Visual Merchandising, Graphic Design and Quality Assurance.
These teams execute product development, planning & inventory strategies to land on-trend products into our store networks globally. This all happens with a creatively planned visual merchandising brief to complement our product and store setup. The expertise of these teams contributes to our exceptional product range, performance and excellent customer experience.
Behind the scenes, our Brands are championed by multiple support functions, including eCommerce & Marketing, Supply Chain & Logistics, Finance, Legal, Property, Retail Operations, IT and People & Culture.

Our Peter Alexander team has had a long-standing relationship with RSPCA in Australia and Paw Justice in New Zealand. The work includes several activities to fundraise and build awareness to prevent animal cruelty.
Since our partnership commenced with the RSPCA over 15 years ago and Paw Justice 8 years ago, the Peter Alexander brand has donated a total sum of $1.4m (check amount)
SUPPORTING FAMILIES AND CHILDREN
Families are at the heart of all our brands, and none more so than Smiggle.
The Just Group and Smiggle brand contribute and fundraise for several charities that support children’s physical and mental wellbeing at home and in schools.
Smiggle has long-standing relationships with organisations such as the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and Dolly’s Dream.
Smiggle is in partnership with the Alannah and Madeline Foundation. This organisation is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children who have experienced or witnessed violence, including cyberbullying and bullying in schools. Smiggle has donated products for inclusion in the charity’s “Buddy Bag” programme, which provides vulnerable children with a backpack full of essential home and school supplies.
Smiggle has been supporting Dolly’s Dream since 2019 and has sold “Choose Kindness Keyrings during the back-to-school period, donating all proceeds to Dolly’s Dream. Dolly’s Dream is dedicated to changing the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide through education and direct support for young people and families.

Peter Alexander Sleepwear is a prestige lifestyle brand that is aspirational and affordable
At age 24, Peter decided it was time to be his own boss. When his female friends were unable to find comfortable women’s pyjamas that weren’t matronly styles, he decided to get into the pyjama game.
Working from his Mother’s dining room table, Peter began making women’s pyjamas and selling them to department stores. When the phone rang, Peter and his Mum would pretend to be someone else to make the business seem bigger!
When a department store cancelled an order for 2000 pairs of pyjamas, Peter turned his biggest setback into an opportunity. He then put a mail-order advertisement in a popular women’s magazine, and the response was overwhelming. Peter was flooded with 6000 orders from one ad; since then, he hasn’t looked back!
Following this success, the business started to grow and attract media attention. Peter was dubbed the ‘Pyjama King’ by the Australian Media, and the nickname has stuck to this day! His humorous, quirky and playful personality shines through in every collection.

What is it about International Women’s Day that is important to you?
International Women’s Day to me means ‘yeah the girls!’ It’s about celebrating the incredible things that women have achieved and the endless possibilities of what more we can achieve. I’m so lucky to work with such amazing women who are consistently inspiring and challenging me to do better.
What does #EmbraceEquity mean to you? How do you keep this front of mind when working with others?
The first thing that came to my mind was, everyone in this world is different.
We may share some similarities here but we are all definitely cut from a different trees and it keeps life interesting.
Embracing equity to me, means being open, respectful and understanding of the people around us and a concept of this is playing to people’s strengths and skills.
What’s the most important piece of advice you have received? OR What advice would you give your younger self or young women thinking about their careers?
The grand plan may change and it’s okay! I remember having this grand scheme and timeline for everything in my life and I can tell hand on heart that that plan has gone completely out the window, but it’s okay!
Embrace it when the plan changes, it could be beneficial in the end.
