We’re one of the nation’s largest and most experienced not-for-profit providers of independent living services for older Australians and anyone who needs our help in achieving the best possible quality of life and independence. Our combined experience of over 200 years of compassionate service means we can deliver the highest standard of professional support and clinical care.

Our services cover 3 main areas – At Home Support; Retirement Living and Residential Aged Care. Bolton Clarke At Home Support services are designed to help our clients live as independently as possible, wherever they live. We provide hands-on support and assistance covering expert clinical care from our home nurses to professional home assistance services delivered by our care workers.

Bolton Clarke Retirement Living communities are warm and welcoming places where our residents live independently, able to enjoy old interests or discover new ones and with the facilities and support to stay connected to the people and communities important to them.

Our Residential Aged Care communities are staffed 24/7 by a combination of expert nurses and dedicated care workers who can provide help at all times, including emergency situations.

Additionally, specialist services like dementia support and palliative care are available, and physiotherapists and other allied health professionals are ready to assist and support our residents. Bolton Clarke is also proud to have a world-renowned in-house research institute and a registered training organisation for our nurses and care workers.

Career profiles – what does a job at Bolton Clarke look like?

Brooke Searles and Julieann Dickson have both started their careers in aged care within out At Home Support Services team servicing the Rockhampton, Gladstone and Yeppoon region of Queensland.

The pair have been working with the team since June and have taken a real shine to the industry and are keen to pursue their interest in health, wellness and improving the lives of others.

Brooke has a true passion and commitment to healthcare completing a Certificate III in aged care through a school-based traineeship plus additional first aid, CPR, manual handling and mental health training.

“I really enjoy helping others and aged care is a great industry to work in as I want to pursue a career in nursing. I am learning how to care for my clients with different behaviours and learn their individual preferences,” Brooke said.

“The team has been very supportive and helpful while the clients are lovely. I have already received good feedback from them and it’s very rewarding to hear.

“Aged care is an extremely rewarding career to practice; you learn more every day while making a difference in people’s lives. If you’re a caring person who enjoys having responsibility, then aged care is a great occupation to follow.”

Journey to Careers Success

Our people are the heart and soul of our organisation and we support the community.

Robyn Kane from At Home Support shares her passion for the work she does, her pride in working with other like-minded colleagues and her journey so far.

Onwards and upwards 

Robyn started out as a primary nurse delivering care in a low socioeconomic area some 25 years ago with a background in trauma and plastic reconstructive surgery developing skills in chromic wound care. She progressed from Registered nurse to Clinical Co-ordinator, supervising staff on the road before moving into senior management roles. Apart from being proud of her longevity with organisations Robyn continued to expand and build her knowledge and practice through tertiary educations.

From direct care, to team management, Robyn now heads up Service Development, impacting he lived of our clients every day.

Riding the waved of change 

Be it regulatory reform of technology and process changes, embracing change has been an important driver throughout her career and thriving in a transforming environment and the opportunity that it brings.

“I’ve had great support and mentoring in my career here particulary in the last couple of years where I’ve worked closely with many people who aren in support roles behind the scenes,” said Robyn.

“The former Governor-General of Australia, Quentin Bryce visited one of our Veterans. She is an amazing woman who spent quality time during her visit and her rapport with the client, his family and all in the room was inspiring.” Robyn shared.

“I enjoy what I do, working with some great people towards attaining our goals – despite the challenges aline the way. I see the next few years as being an exciting time with many opportunities for an innovative and energetic organisation, but of course always remembering that at the centre of what we do are our clients.”

Volunteers with Bolton Clarke are a minimum of 15 years old. Our team will work with you to find the best role that suits you based on your interests and availability.  Things volunteers currently do include:

  • Sharing art and craft skills

  • Sharing technology skills
  • Sitting and chatting with residents

All volunteering with Bolton Clarke is subject to an application proccess, successful background checks and requires a flu vaccination.
