Apprentices

An apprenticeship can be an excellent way of starting your career and explore the unknown in the mining sector and developing sought after skills.

Supporting you with your apprenticeship will be a community of like-minded leaders and friendly team members who value early career development, and provide personal and professional guidance across your journey. With exposure to technical experts, you will gain valuable knowledge and life skills.

At our Cadia mine site, we offer a unique opportunity for employees and their families to enjoy a mining career, all whilst living in a major regional centre only three hours’ drive from Sydney, NSW.

Cadia is also a smoke-free site since January 1^st, 2020.

Graduate Program

Newcrest offers a wide variety of opportunities including Graduate and Vacation programs each year across Australia, Papua New Guinea and Canada.

Our Australian Operations:

• Cadia Mine Site, in the regional centre of Orange, NSW.
• Telfer Mine Site, in the Pilbara region of WA

Our two-year program offers a career in the resources industry, the chance to travel and work with cutting edge digital innovation and technology.

Newcrest’s two-year Australian Graduate Program offers a diverse and unique learning journey, with the ability to further enhance your passion for mining across our Australian operations. Our Graduates gain experience over a two-year period and rotate between our regional Cadia operations in New South Wales and our FIFO Telfer operations in Western Australia.

Working as part of a team, you’ll participate in exciting real-life projects with leading professionals dedicated to the safe exploration, mining and production of gold, you will gain invaluable hands-on professional experience and development.

Supporting you along with your Graduate Program, underpinned by a competitive salary package and relocation offering, will be a community of like-minded leaders who value early career development, and provide personal and professional support across your journey. With exposure to leadership teams and technical experts, you will uncover a wealth of knowledge and life skills.

As a graduate, you will commence the program in January each year and be required to rotate in 12 months and gain experience in our Australian operations:

• Cadia (Residential Monday to Friday Rotation) – our Cadia operations are a short 25-minute drive outside of the regional centre of Orange. Cadia offers a unique residential mining lifestyle with exposure to first-class mining techniques, methods and projects.
• Telfer (FIFO Shift Work Rotation) – Located in the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of WA, Telfer is a short two-hour flight from Perth. Working as a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operation, comprising of open pit and underground. While at the site, Telfer offers a unique learning experience and a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.

Vacation Program
