Our Graduate Program
Our Graduate Program is a challenging and rewarding way to kick-start a long-term career with us.
You’ll start with us in February, but the length of your program will depend on which career pathway you choose. Being such a large and diverse business, we have a vast range of opportunities for you to take hold of.
You’ll begin your CommBank career with an orientation conference in Sydney, where you’ll hear from senior leaders and renowned speakers, immerse yourself in all things CommBank, and network with fellow graduates from all parts of our business. Throughout your first year we provide loads of support to help you to maximize your experience. We help you identify your individual focus areas, and provide you with tailored development sessions on-demand or in person.
Every career pathway offers a rotational program. Rotations help you to learn about the different areas of our business, build more connections, further develop skills, and decide where you want to take your career next.

What can you expect as a Graduate?
As a graduate, you’ll start with us in February as a permanent employee, but the length of your program can vary based on which career pathway you choose. Throughout your first year we provide loads of support to help you to maximize your experience. Including a range of rotations to help you learn about different parts of your selected career path.
You’ll attend orientation in Sydney to hear from senior leaders and renowned speakers, immerse yourself in all things CommBank and network with fellow graduates. We’ll help you identify focus areas, and provide tailored development sessions – on demand or in person. You’ll then come together in Sydney again for an intensive mid-year development event to enhance your capabilities even further. At the end of your program, you’ll be supported to find a role that best suits your capabilities and interests.
Locations
We have roles located all over Australia across both metro and regional locations depending on the career pathway you choose. Keep your eyes peeled for when applications open as that’s when our role locations will be available.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be in the final year of a university undergraduate or postgraduate degree or have completed university studies in the last 24 months
- You’ve maintained an overall credit average (65 GPA or WAM)
- You’re a permanent resident of Australia, or Citizen of Australia or New Zealand at the time of your application

No matter what your degree, we accept them all. We offer a range of graduate opportunities for a wide variety of degree disciplines, including Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Marketing, Arts, Law, IT, Computer Science, Design, Human Resource Management, Psychology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Science.

Our Intern and Analyst Programs
While summer is a great time for lazing on the beach, it’s also the perfect time to give your career a head start with our Intern or Analyst program.
Our 10-week programs gives you a taste of what it’s like to work with us. You’ll be given full support and training to help you decide if CommBank is the right fit for you.
You’ll enjoy an intensive introduction to life at CommBank, learn how we operate, get involved in great projects and meet inspirational people who’ll help you put your career on the right path.
At the end of the Intern program you’ll also have the opportunity to apply early for our Graduate Program for the following year.
At the end of the Analyst program, you could receive an offer for a full time position in one of our Global Markets teams, once you’ve completed your studies.

Developing the skills of First Nations People
At CommBank, we believe our people should reflect the diversity of the communities we work in. As Australia’s largest financial services organisation, we offer excellent employment opportunities to our First Nations People across the country.
We’ve a set target to reach employment parity – 3% First Nations representation across our domestic workforce – by December 2026. In order to achieve this target, our Indigenous Careers team is working across the company to make sure we’re growing talent internally and continuing to maintain an inclusive workplace where First Nations employees can thrive.
In addition to our Graduate and Summer Intern Programs, we offer a range of employment programs to First Nations People including:
AIME and AIEF
We support the important work of the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) and the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) to ensure Indigenous youth have the right foundations for a prosperous career.
School-Based Traineeships
Our School Based Traineeship (SBT) Program provides a minimum of 70 new positions each year for First Nations students in Years 11 and 12. With SBTs that transition onto university, we’ll continue to work closely with them through the CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program. The Program helps young First Nations People build a career in the financial services industry, with vital on-the-job experience.
CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program
Recognising the importance of internships to attracting top university graduates, we’re partnered with the CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program, offering a program tailored for Indigenous university students. Through our partnership we’re committed to providing at least 25 internship placements a year to Indigenous university students until 2025.
Full-Time Traineeship Program
Our Full-Time Traineeships Program helps adult First Nations job seekers to develop into a role over 12 months. We provide participants with training and support with the aim to offer them a permanent position once they complete the traineeship. We’re currently working on expanding the program across the organisation.
Group-Wide Graduate Program
We’ve worked closely with our Campus Talent Acquisition team to develop a transition process to support CareerTrackers Interns into our Summer Intern Program during their penultimate year. This will provide them with the best opportunity to secure a position on our Graduate Program on completion of their studies.
Future Leaders Program
Our Future Leaders Program supports First Nations employees to develop their leadership skills and experiences to progress their careers to management level. We also recognise that building leadership skills benefit First Nations communities more broadly. We’re committed to supporting employees to be role models in the community.

Yana Budjari
Yana Budjari means ‘Come Together You Mob’ in the Dharawal language from the South Coast of NSW. Our employee network, Yana Budjari, is an important part of delivering CommBank’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which aims to promote social, economic and financial inclusion to help close the gap between First Nations People and other Australians. It provides a way for our people to engage with our reconciliation programs by getting involved and bringing the programs and supporting partnerships to life.
Cultural Diversity
Mosaic – our cultural diversity employee network, is focused on embracing and leveraging cultural diversity to realise our business goals to improve our customers’ financial wellbeing. Mosaic provides thought leadership and leads a wide range of initiatives to build cultural awareness and respect, from an ambassadors program to training and even cultural celebrations.
