December 3, 2024The Mental Health Support Worker – Family & Carer – is responsible for providing education, training, and individual support to families and carers of people with mental illness, aiming to improve their wellbeing, resilience, coping skills and relationships. Working within the recovery model and using a holistic, person-cantered approach, you will support the carer to achieve their goals and build capacity so they can support their loved one with a mental illness.
- Part – time ( 4 days a week ) in Tuggerah

Family and Carer Mental Health Program, of Uniting – Recovery division, offers education, training and individual support services to families and Carers of those with mental illness, aiming to improve care well-being, resilience, coping skills and relationships.
Essential Criteria:
- Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work.
- Preferred one (1) or more years’ experience in your field of expertise, including leading a small team.
- Understanding of issues and concerns affecting mental health consumers with a working knowledge of and commitment to consumers rights and responsibilities.
- Experience providing individual advocacy for families and carers of people with mental illness.
- Ability to facilitate support groups for families and carers.
- Understanding and application of the principles of Recovery Oriented Mental Health Practice.
- Demonstrated ability to develop individual support plans with carers, with a focus on supporting the carer to reach their goals.
- Ability to provide individualised psychosocial support to people living with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Valid Driver’s Licence
